Ideal digestible isoleucine: digestible lysine ratio in diets for laying hens aged 24-40 weeks R. Bras. Zootec.
Rocha,Tatiana Cristina da; Donzele,Juarez Lopes; Gomes,Paulo Cezar; Mello,Heloisa Helena de Carvalho; Troni,Allan Reis; Viana,Gabriel da Silva.
Two hundred fifty-two Hy-Line W36 laying hens were allotted in a randomized block design with 6 treatments, 7 replicates and 6 hens per experimental unit in order to determine the ideal digestible isoleucine: digestible lysine (Ile:Lys) ratio for laying hens aged 24-40 weeks. Experimental diets contained 5.92, 6.33, 6.73, 7.14, 7.54 and 7.95 g/kg of digestible isoleucine, resulting in different Ile:Lys ratios (0.73:1, 0.78:1, 0.83:1, 0.88:1, 0.93:1 and 0.98:1). Experimental diets were isonitrogenous, with different dietary contents of glutamic acid, and made isocaloric by adjusting the levels of cornstarch. All essential amino acids were provided proportionally to digestible lysine. Feed intake, egg production, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion ratio...

Limestone particle sizes and lighting regimens on egg and bone quality of laying hens PAB
Xavier,Regina Patrícia de Souza; Freitas,Ednardo Rodrigues; Braz,Nádia Melo; Farias,Nadja Naiara Pereira; Lima,Raffaella Castro; Watanabe,Pedro Henrique; Nascimento,Germano Augusto Jerônimo; Peixoto,Maria Simone Mendes.
Abstract:The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of limestone particle sizes in the diet and of lighting regimes on the egg and bone quality and on the performance of commercial laying hens. Three hundred Hissex White layers, at 18 weeks of age, were distributed in a completely randomized design, in a 5×2 factorial arrangement (coarse limestone in the diet at 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%; with or without artificial light), with five replicates of six birds. No significant interaction was observed between particle sizes and lighting regime for the evaluated parameters. There was no significant effect of coarse limestone level in the diet on the performance and egg quality of hens; however, bone deformity (3.23 to 4.01 mm), strength (5.19 to 6.70...

Possible egg positioning and gluing behavior by ovipositing southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula (L.) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) Neotropical Entomology
Panizzi,Antônio R..
From March 2002 to January 2004, a colony of southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula (L.), was kept in the laboratory, and its oviposition behavior was observed. During oviposition, soon after the egg is expelled, the female touches the egg mass with the dorsal surface of the last tarsomere; this movement of one leg of the hind pair occurred once. This small component of the oviposition behavior of this pentatomid is little known and not yet fully understood; it may help to position and glue the newly deposited egg to the others.

Reading model to estimate optimum economic intakes of amino acids for poultry Ciência Rural
Silva,Edney Pereira da; Sakomura,Nilva Kazue; Hauschild,Luciano; Gous,Robert Mervyn.
The use of a linear-plateau procedure to describe the response of an individual in the population has theoretical support, since the maximum potential performance of each individual is genetically determined, and any increment in intake of the limiting nutrient above maintenance will result in a linear response in output until this genetic potential, and hence requirement, is reached. However, because of the distribution of body weights and maximum potential outputs in the population, the mean response of the population is curvilinear, which negates the possibility of defining a 'requirement' for the limiting nutrient, and instead leads to the possibility of defining an optimum economic intake of the nutrient.. The Reading model describes the response of a...

ผลของ Culture filtrate จากเห็ดเรืองแสง Neonothopanus nambi speg. ต่อการฟักไข่ และการตายของตัวอ่อนระยะที่ 2 ของไส้เดือนฝอยรากปม Meloidogyne incognita chitwood Thai Agricultural
Weravart Namanusart; Weerasak Saksirirat; Waraporn Tanthanuch.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of culture filtrate of luminescent mushroom, Neonothopanus nambi (isolate PW2 and KKU2) on egg hatching and infective larvae (J2) of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) in laboratory. The culture filtrates of N. nambi (PW2 and KKU2) inhibited significantly the egg hatching and caused mortality on J2 of M. incognita, compared to sterile distilled water and YMB medium. Culture filtrates of fungal isolate KKU2 and PW2 expressed the highest inhibition percentage of egg hatching of99.04 % and 98.85 %, respectively, and exhibited 100% mortality of J2 within 72 hrs after treated. Using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) to investigate biochemical compound change of nematode egg mass and using infrared...
